Google and Yahoo sender guidelines affect sending to 5,000+ recipients per day
Why it matters
In 2024, Google and Yahoo implemented strict guidelines to protect their users and their sought-after inboxes. Not following these guidelines risks that your sends won't reach your audience, with messages landing in spam or not arriving to your readers at all.
Who is affected
External senders emailing 5,000+ personal Google and Yahoo emails daily.
Internal senders and emails to business email addresses remain unaffected.
What you can expect from Axios HQ
- Axios HQ's default sending domain authenticates with SPF, DKIM and DMARC in place and has valid PTR records.
- Every message sent from Axios HQ is formatted to RFC standards.
- No Axios HQ send is able to impersonate Google or Yahoo email addresses.
- The unsubscribe feature can be turned on for any Axios HQ series.
Additional steps
1. Ensure your domain is authenticated. This protects your domain, which protects against spam and phishing attacks.
- Talk to your IT team to review and confirm your SPF records, DKIM records, and DMARC policies are following Google's best practices.
2. Add an unsubscribe link to your external sends. This allows users to opt out of email communication they are no longer interested in receiving.
- Navigate to your series' settings to add an unsubscribe link to your edition.
3. Keep your spam rates under 0.1% and never reach 0.3%. This signals that you are a responsible and trusted sender.
- Try Google's Postmaster Tools to monitor your spam rates.
- Do not buy lists, and be sure to clean your external audience list of any bad emails before sending your first message.
- Check your analytics after each send and remove any bounced email addresses.
4. If you are utilizing Custom Domain for your Axios HQ sends.
- Review your DMARC policy on your root domain. If you do not have a valid DMARC policy in place and need assistance, reach out to us at help@axioshq.com.
