1. Turning on Pre-send Check for a series

🛠️ How it works:

  • Click the Series Settings gear icon in the top right corner.
  • Check the "Require audience confirmation" box.
  • Click "Save changes." Pre-send Check is now active for all new editions in this series.

Note: Only Owners and Admins can turn Pre-send Check on or off. Senders who don't have admin or owner access will not see this setting. Any drafts already in progress when the toggle is turned on will have their audience cleared on the next edit.


2. Sending with Pre-send Check enabled

🛠️ How it works:

  • Click "Review and send" from the edition editor. You'll arrive at the Delivery settings page with the Audience field blank.
  • Select your audience manually from the Audience field. An "Audience is required" error will appear and the Review button will remain disabled until an audience is chosen.
  • Once your audience is set, click "Review."
  • Check the "I'm ready to send!" box at the bottom of the page. The Confirm send button activates only after you check it.
  • Click "Confirm send" to complete your send.

What is Pre-send Check?

Pre-send Check is an optional setting that Admins can turn on for individual series. When enabled, it clears the audience field on every new edition and adds a confirmation checkbox on the review screen — so senders have to make a deliberate choice before each send goes through.

Who can turn Pre-send Check on or off?

Only Owners and Admins can enable or disable Pre-send Check from Series Settings → Share → Send controls. Senders who don't have Admin or Owner access will not see this setting.

What happens to drafts that were in progress before Pre-send Check was turned on?

Existing drafts are not immediately affected. The next time a sender edits one of those drafts, the audience will be cleared and they'll need to re-select it before sending.

Does Pre-send Check apply to test sends, one-off communications, or already-scheduled editions?

No. Pre-send Check only gates live sends and newly scheduled sends. Test sends, one-off communications, and editions that were already in the send queue before the toggle was enabled are not affected.

Can senders skip or bypass the confirmation step?

No. The confirmation is enforced server-side — the send will not go through without a confirmed audience selection and the "I'm ready to send!" checkbox, even if someone attempts to send directly via the API.

Which plans have access to Pre-send Check?

Pre-send Check is available on all Axios HQ plans. Any series Admin or Owner can turn it on from Series Settings.
