Add files to your HQ communication
Attachments allow you to share files directly in your communications, making it easier to collaborate and exchange information. Whether it’s documents, images, or other types of content, attachments help streamline communication by keeping everything you need in one place.

-
Once the file has been uploaded, you can open the attachment modal again to view, download, or delete the attachment(s) on your edition.

Attachments can impact your edition’s deliverability. We recommend reviewing our allowlisting recommendations and testing thoroughly before publishing your communications.
FAQ
What types of files can I attach?
HQ accepts most common file types. You can attach documents like PDFs, images, spreadsheets and even calendar events. Ensure that the total size of all attachments does not exceed 20 MB per edition.
Can I attach multiple files to a single edition?
Yes, you can attach multiple files, provided the combined size does not exceed the 20 MB limit per edition.
Are there alternatives to attaching files directly?
If you're concerned about deliverability or file size, we still recommend uploading your file to a cloud service (like Google Drive or Dropbox) and inserting a hyperlink to the document within your edition.
Can I remove an attachment after uploading?
Yes, there are multiple ways to remove an attachment. You can delete an attachment by reopening the attachment modal from the Series Planner View, by clicking the attachment icon at the bottom of the edition. You can also do so from within the edition, by clicking the attachment icon in the top toolbar to open the modal. Finally, you can also remove them before sending during the "Review and Send" process.
Can I replace an attachment after uploading?
To replace a file, delete the existing one and upload the new version.
Is there a way to track if recipients open or download attachments?
At this point we do not have an option to track analytics on attachments. If you'd like to track opens for a file, we recommend hyperlinking the file in the edition and reviewing the link tracking we provide.
Do attachments appear in exported editions?
Attachments are not embedded in exported versions of your edition.
My file is being blocked for security reasons, what can I do?
Certain file types can include embedded scripts, macros, or unsupported content and can trigger security blocks when uploading.
- PDFs might include embedded scripts, multimedia, or form fields: Use PDF/A or flattened PDFs.
- .doc / .xls (legacy Office formats) may contain macros: Convert to .docx or .xlsx.
- .ppt / .pptx might contain embedded media or macros: Use PDF/A or flattened PDFs.
- Image files might include scripts or external calls (often found in SVGs): Export as a PNG or JPG file.
- Password-protected or encrypted files: Use non password-protected/encrypted files.
If you continue running into issues, we recommend uploading your file to a cloud provider and hyperlinking it in the edition instead.
Where are attachments saved?
File attachments are stored temporarily on a secure, partitioned S3 bucket (hosted by AWS) and are deleted from our system 30 days after they’re sent.
