Managing your content with Series Planner

Series Planner makes it easy to create content, spot gaps, and adjust plans in real time.

What’s new: Series Planner is a kanban-style view for managing content across a series. Designed to improve visibility and streamline workflows, this view brings a more intuitive way to organize cards and editions within HQ.

  • Each card represents a single piece of content that can be created and stored outside of an edition.

Why it matters: Planning communications can be a difficult task, even for experienced professionals. Series Planner simplifies the process by making it easy to create content, spot gaps, and adjust plans in real time.

1. Scratchpad/New cards column

This column is dedicated to creating cards outside of an edition. You can use this column to draft cards that do not belong to a specific edition yet. Once you decide which edition you would like the card to be part of, simply drag it over to the edition’s column.

🛠️ How it works:

  • Select “Add card” at the bottom of the column.
  • On the right side, a card editor panel will open.
  • Add a headline, image, and card content.
  • Highlight text to expose the floating toolbar that gives you access to text formatting options.
  • Once you have identified which edition the card will be included in, drag and drop the card into the edition.

2. Edition columns

🛠️ How it works:

  • Every column to the right of the “New cards column” represents a draft edition.
  • Editions are sorted by their scheduled and target send dates, followed by drafts with no dates attached.
  • To open the full editor for an edition draft, click the subject line at the top of the column.
  • Click on a card within a column to delete, duplicate, or open the card editor panel for quick edits.
  • Set a target date at the top of an edition’s column.
  • Click the 3 vertical dots to access the overflow menu which allows you to duplicate, schedule, create a template or delete an edition.
  • Move cards by dragging and dropping them into different columns.

3. Sections

Sections serve as placeholders to organize your recurring content across editions. They help ensure you never miss an important topic or moment in your communication. Sections do not appear in the Editor. They are placeholders in your Series Planner view.

Create a section:

  • Select “Manage sections” and type the section title to create the section.
  • Add an optional description to give context on the intended use of the section.
  • Click and drag the 6 dots to change the order of your sections.

Create an edition with default sections:

🛠️ How it works:

  • Click “New edition” then select “Use default sections.”
  • The draft will appear in a new column with default sections.

4. Card editor capabilities

The card editor view allows you to modify the title and byline of intro cards and format text; add links, polls, buttons, images, emojis, and axioms.

🛠️ How it works:

  • Highlight text to expose the floating toolbar.

  • Click the plus icon on the left of a text or empty block to expose additional editor features, like polls and buttons.

  • Hover over the left side of a block to expose the six grip dots. Drag from the grip dots to move content up or down.
