Compare Series and Segment engagement across your organization all in one place.
The Performance page gives you a centralized view to compare how your Series and Segments are performing across your entire organization. Quickly spot engagement trends, measure results over time, and export your data — all in one place.
Table of Contents:
1. Accessing the Performance page
🛠️ How it works:
- From your Workspace, navigate to the Performance page on the left side navigation panel.
2. Areas of the Performance page
The Performance page is organized into the following areas:
2.1 Filters
Use the filters at the top of the Performance page to customize your view:
- Series - Filter by one or more Series. Defaults to showing all Series you have access to.
- Segment - Filter by one or more Segments. Only available if your organization uses Segments in HQ.
- Date range - Defaults to the last month. You can select a custom date range or view all available historical data. Filters are based on when engagement activity occurred (opens, clicks, reactions, bounces), not the edition's send date.
2.2 Top-level metrics
At the top of the page, you'll see aggregated metrics across all selected series (and segments, if filtered) for your selected date range. Selecting one of these metrics shows pulls up a line chart for the selected date range. The metrics include:
- Total delivered — Total number of emails successfully delivered during the selected time period.
- Active Editions — Total number of editions with engagement during the selected time period.
- Open Rate — The percentage of delivered emails that were opened during the selected time period.
- Bounce Rate — The percentage of emails that bounced during the selected time period.
- Click Through Rate — The percentage of delivered messages that received at least one click during the selected time period.
- Reactions — Total number of reactions received during the selected time period.
💡 Note on calculations: When multiple Series are selected, top-line metrics use weighted aggregates — meaning larger sends have proportionally more impact on the overall figure. When only one Series is selected, metrics use the mean of averages across editions, consistent with the Series Analytics page.
2.3 Series-level analytics table
The series breakdown table shows performance for all selected series, making it easy to compare series side by side.
🛠️ How it works:
- Scroll down from the top-level metrics and select the Series button.
- Each row represents a series and shows aggregated metrics for the selected date range.
- Use the table to identify which series have the highest engagement, and where there may be room to improve.
- Click any row to expand it and see a breakdown by Segment.
- You can sort the table by any column to quickly identify your top or lowest-performing Series.
💡 Note on table calculations: The Series and Segment tables always calculate metrics using the mean of averages across editions — consistent with the calculation method used on the Series Analytics page.
2.4 Segment-level analytics table
Segment analytics let you see how different audience groups are engaging with your communications — within a single series or across multiple series.
🛠️ How it works:
- Scroll down from the top-level metrics and select the Segment button.
- The segment performance table will update to show engagement broken down by the segments you've selected.
- Use the table to identify which segments have the highest engagement, and where there may be room for improvement.
- Click any row to expand it and see a breakdown by Series.
- You can sort the table by any column to quickly identify your top or lowest-performing Segments.
💡 Note on table calculations: The Series and Segment tables always calculate metrics using the mean of averages across editions — consistent with the calculation method used on the Series Analytics page.
2.5 Downloading Performance Analytics
🛠️ How it works:
- Apply any filters you want (series, segment, date range).
- Select the Download button on the top right of the page and choose between Excel or CSV.
- Your file will appear in the notification center (bell icon in the top left of the platform). Clicking the Open button in the pop up at the bottom of the page opens the notification center.
💡 The exported file reflects what is shown in the UI, including whatever filters you've applied.
3. Permissions and visibility
What you see on the Performance page depends on your role:
- Owners and Admins - can see all series in the org that have been sent, and all segments attached to at least one send.
- Members - can only see the series and segments they have permission to access.
This ensures that performance insights are broadly accessible while maintaining appropriate content and audience visibility controls across your organization.
4. FAQs
Who can see the Performance page?
The Performance page is available to all users in all orgs, regardless of plan. What users see is permission-based: Admins can see all Series that have sends and all Segments attached to a send in HQ. Members can only see Series and Segments they already have permission to access.
What if my organization doesn't use Segments?
The Performance page will still function fully at the Series level. Metrics are aggregated across all sends in the selected Series and date range. Segment filters and breakdowns simply won't apply.
How does date range filtering work?
Date range filters are based on engagement activity timestamps, not send dates. Metrics reflect events (opens, clicks, reactions, bounces) that occurred within the selected date range, even if the edition was sent earlier.
Example: An edition is sent on January 31st, with engagement events on January 31st, February 1st, and February 2nd. If you filter by Last Month (January), the report will only include engagement that happened in January — February engagement will not be included.
How far back does the data go?
Performance analytics includes historical data back to approximately June 2022. For orgs with sends prior to that date, data before June 2022 will not appear on the Performance page.
Does the export include all data, or only what's filtered on the page?
Exports reflect the current filters applied on the page, including the selected date range, Series, and Segments. The download matches exactly what you are viewing on screen — it is not a raw export of all data.
Can I see individual recipient-level data?
No. The Performance page shows Series and Segment-level data only. Individual recipient-level engagement data is not available on this page.
How are the top-line metrics calculated when multiple Series are selected?
When multiple Series are selected, top-line metrics use weighted aggregates. Metrics are weighted based on volume (e.g., total recipients), so larger sends have proportionally more impact on the overall figure. This provides a more accurate overall performance view when comparing across multiple Series. When only one Series is selected, top-line metrics use the mean of averages across editions — the same method used on the Series Analytics page.
How are the Series and Segment table metrics calculated?
The Series and Segment tables always use the mean of averages across editions, consistent with the Series Analytics page. This ensures comparability when reviewing individual Series or Segment performance.
Will the metrics on the Performance page match what I see on the Series Analytics page?
When a single Series is selected, yes — both the top-line metrics and table metrics use the mean of averages, matching the Series Analytics page. When multiple Series are selected, the top-line metrics use weighted aggregates, which may differ from the individual Series-level figures shown in the table.
How does the Performance page work for orgs with anonymized analytics?
For orgs with anonymized analytics enabled, only Series-level metrics are displayed. No Segment-level data is shown or exposed.
Has anything changed about data retention?
No. Data retention follows HQ's existing retention policies. Visit the Trust Center for more information.
Where do the numbers on the "All Series" page come from?
The metrics on the All Series page are unchanged. They use the same mean-of-averages calculation as the Series Analytics page, reflecting averages across editions within each Series.
Where are the One-offs calculated in the Performance page?
One-off sends are not included — the Performance page is for Series only.
